About Yalom.com

Yalom.com is a reader’s guide to the books that help us understand ourselves — existential psychotherapy, depth psychology, and the literature of meaning, mortality, and change. The site takes its name and inspiration from the work of Irvin D. Yalom, MD, the psychiatrist and author whose books introduced millions of readers to existential ideas.

Who we are. The Yalom Editorial Team is a small group of editors and lifelong readers of psychology and philosophy. We spend our time reading in this field, comparing editions and translations, and figuring out which books are genuinely worth your time — whether you’re a curious first-time reader, someone going through a hard season, or a student training to become a therapist.

What we do. We publish reading guides, curated “best books” lists, and individual book reviews across topics like existential therapy, finding meaning, grief and mortality, therapy memoirs, and psychology for beginners. We organize the work of great thinkers — Yalom, Frankl, May, Becker, and others — so it’s easy to find your next read.

How we choose books. Recommendations are based on the quality and reputation of each book, its usefulness to the reader, and how well it fits the topic — never on commissions. Read our full Editorial Policy.

How we’re funded. Some links on this site are affiliate links; if you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never influences our recommendations. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
